Philippa is a traveller, writer, adventurer and (having been an India travel specialist since 1998) a self-confessed Indophile. She moved to India in 2006, and travelled extensively, writing about her experiences on the go; periodically for Times of India and Travel Mint and regularly on her blog www.memsahibinindia.com.
She has ridden priceless Marwari horses, been invited to royal weddings, stayed in fantastic palaces, trekked mountains, rafted white-water, been wined and dined by maharajas, drunk chai in remote villages, slept out under the stars, driven vintage cars, discovered the best quirky affordable off beat stays, and got caught up in Holi and ended up with hair dyed a permanent shade of green. What all of this taught her, was that there is so much more to India (Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Nepal) than meets the eye.
She set up Indian Experiences initially as a consultancy to the Indian Travel Trade with a focus on experiential, off beat and sustainable travel. As such, she offers product innovation sessions, product training courses, developing websites and content writing to help the industry promote what she calls, ‘The real India.’
She moved back to the UK in December 2019 and published her first novel Escape to India.
‘’Philippa takes you on a journey beyond your expectations. Combining her vast knowledge and combining that with listening to your reasons for travel, you end up in destinations you’d never heard of, but which are actually perfectly tailored, helping to creating your dream trip.’’ Susan Garthwaite.
