Wellness - 7 Spa Breaks

India offers a diverse range of wellness options for rejuvenation, including yoga, Ayurveda, and naturopathy.

Yoga is a 5000-year-old practice which unites the body, mind, and breath, providing balance and reducing stress. Ayurveda is an ancient medicine system which offers personalized treatments, diets, and yoga practices to harmonize the body and mind. Naturopathy takes a holistic approach, healing from within through nature, yoga, and meditation. It addresses the root cause of ailments and promotes overall well-being.

Whether you seek luxury or simplicity, with first-hand knowledge and experience, I can guide you in finding the perfect destination for your wellness retreat.

An opulent palace-turned-wellness center it provides a serene environment  with personalized treatments, Ayurvedic consultations, yoga and meditation sessions, and nourishing meals, guests can rejuvenate their mind, body, and spirit.

My Review:

Ayurveda isn’t the most glamorous form of spa holiday, but it is an ancient wisdom and system that works and nowhere better than in an area that has always followed these strict principles. It’s not the easiest, with enforced rest and relaxation, daily yoga, silent meals, and a very strict personalised diet, but then the results by far outweigh the grumblings and don’t we all need some time out these days?

  • 14 Night minimum stay required.
  • Pure personalised vegetarian diet prescribed according to your doshas.
  • Consultation on arrival and treatments decided according to this.

SwaSwara

SwaSwara is a sanctuary for your soul. Located above Om Beach, with spacious grounds, parts have been reforested,  giving a sense of both space whilst being immersed in nature; think, sea views, lush foliage, and sounds of crashing waves. The perfect setting for a rejuvenation experience which it creates through its yoga and ayurveda offerings and complemented by their introduction to healthy activity & food habits to help guests to lead & maintain a healthy lifestyle.

My Review:

It’s no secret I’m not a fan of yoga, but  I have to say, I loved it here. The rooms are so innovative and unique, a private walled open villa, the bedroom enclosed by floor to ceiling glass walls, and semi, open to the sky bathrooms. One could be at one with nature, whilst enjoying absolute comfort. Of course the ayurvedic treatments were excellent.

  • No minimum stay required but I’d recommend at least 4 nights.
  • A la carte pescatarian diet.
  • Group yoga, cookery and mindfulness sessions throughout the day.
  • For ayurveda treatments, consultation on arrival and treatments decided according to this.
  • Wine served on request.

Prakriti Shakti

Nestled in the picturesque hills of Panchalimedu, this Naturopathy wellness center offers a sanctuary for holistic healing. In this serene environment, away from the chaos of daily life. The dedicated team of naturopaths identifies the root causes of ailments and works towards their elimination, aiming for permanent healing. By treating the person as a whole and addressing physical, mental, and spiritual well-being, the Nature Cure approach not only offers relief but also focuses on prevention.

My Review:

Naturopathy is a non invasive treatment, it is all about treating the cause and the person as a whole and nature plays a major part, as does yoga. The learnings were fascinating, the team are of course, knowledgeable, empathetic and informative.  The diet takes some getting used to, not only is it vegan, but raw, and it’s amazing how tasty that can be. The location is spectacular, up in the hills! Whether its time for a cleanse or a cure, I’d recommend giving it a go.

  • 14 Night minimum stay required.
  • Pure personalised vegan, raw diet prescribed according to consultation.
  • Consultation on arrival and treatments decided according to this.

Ekaanta

Nestled in the heart of Haridwar, one of the oldest and holiest cities in the world, Ekaanta offers a tranquil sanctuary where you can rejuvenate amidst the chaos of everyday life. Located amidst the foothills of the Himalayas, this mindversity provides a deeply sensorial experience of mindfulness, enveloped by the lush Uttarakhand forests on one side and the flowing Ganges River on the other. Find serenity and peace of mind by immersing yourself in classes, creative activities, and the soothing infinity open-air jacuzzi. The private ghat on the Ganges invites you to discover yourself through tales and reflections, while the rooms and pods offer breathtaking views of the holy river and a sense of home away from home.

My Review:

I recently met two young ladies with a very clear vision, determination, passion and connections in the world of spirituality and wellness who told me about their new retreat in Haridwar. I’ve always had a policy of only promoting places that I’ve personally visited but these ladies impressed me with their ideas, thorough thought processes in vision and implementation that I’ve decided to include it here in my select spa collection. Located in the holy city of Haridwar, on the banks of the Ganges, all details have been meticulously planned from the experiences offered (walks, forest bathing, open air cinema), holistic and nutritional health including a teaching kitchen, yoga, story telling sessions, and spa treatments. They have me wanting to visit and I think that this would be a perfect addition to a Golden Triangle itinerary, a relaxed, holistic stay with the spirituality of Haridwar and Rishikesh on your doorstep.

  • 4 day minimum stay recommended if no fixed retreat being attended.
  • Retreat packages available for 2, 4 and 6 nights.
  • Pure vegetarian diet.
