It’s so tempting to head off to the destinations that you’ve heard of, however, they are often crowded and loud and rarely match up to the Instagram or brochure images. Quite often the special places are in the less well known destinations, the ones undiscovered by the hoards where one can get a beach to oneself, be the only people at a temple, be at one with nature, have dinner with a host family and really have the chance to discover more about the country from a first-hand perspective. There are so many wonderful off-beat destinations in India and I can honestly say, that these are the places that people tell me were the highlight of their trip. It’s easy to incorporate one or two of these into an itinerary or make an itinerary up with 3 or 4 of them.
