I’d never considered India, it wasn’t even on my radar and then, quite unexpectedly, I was asked to set up a company that specialised in travel to the South India! With a policy of, ‘If you haven’t seen it, you can’t sell it,’ I was promptly flown to Chennai and found myself sitting in the Taj Connemara hotel, thinking to myself, well, this isn’t all that bad! It was to be a three-week journey across the three southern states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka. The year was 1998, even then, before I really knew what I was doing, I discovered a lot that I didn’t like and then I wanted to delve deeper into what I thought I might like. It turns out nothing has changed, whilst everything changed. Three weeks became six weeks and those six weeks has turned India into my home and career for the last 25 years.
So, in honour of next year being officially my 25th year of specialising in travel to India, I’d like to go back to where it all began but with a group, to showcase and share this very special (as well as special to me) part of India.
