Off the beaten track in rural Rajasthan

A great itinerary for those wanting to get into the heart of regal yet rural life in Rajasthan. The Golden triangle is included but then, head off to the countryside to stay in a wonderful country-based, restored forts and small summer palaces hosted by the descendants of the Thakurs (Lords) to whom the land was bequeathed centuries ago. These are a far cry from the mainstream destinations and  the opportunity to mingle with your hosts as well as discover the local villages truly give a wonderful insight into the local village life of Rajasthan in areas unspoilt by the hordes.  In addition I’ve included Jawai, an area of outstanding natural beauty home to leopards for which it is famous but then, I’ve also included the most impressive fort in the whole of Rajasthan, the Meherangarh and the most romantic city of all, Udaipur.
