March: One-horned Rhinoceros: Flood Plains of the Brahmaputra

The flood plains of the Brahmaputra River in India are home to one of the most iconic and endangered species, the One-horned Rhinoceros. These majestic creatures, also known as Indian Rhinoceros, are found primarily in the Kaziranga National Park and Manas National Park in the state of Assam.  This region with its the grasslands, marshes, and shallow water bodies offer abundant food sources and a secure environment for them to thrive.  A success story of conservation efforts in India, these rhinos were once on the brink of extinction, but the population has significantly recovered due to dedicated conservation programs and strict protection measures. This wildlife journey allows visitors to appreciate the beauty and resilience of this magnificent species and also serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving their habitat and ensuring the survival of these incredible creatures for generations to come.
