India has 50% of the worlds bear species and this a unique journey to see two of those species, the Himalayan brown bear and the Sloth bear. Your first destination is Dras, located in the beautiful region western Ladakh known for its stunning landscapes and is home to the rare and endangered Himalayan brown bear. Explore the rugged terrain of Dras, guided by local experts, and keep an eye out for these magnificent bears in their natural habitat. Next, you’ll head to Dachigam National Park, located in Jammu and Kashmir, home to Himalayan black bears and where they can be observed foraging for food, climbing trees, and roaming the park’s rugged terrain.
Finally, head to Satpura in Madhya Pradesh, a biodiverse region which provides a haven for wildlife, including the sloth bear, as well as leopard and tiger. Venture into the forests with your local guide to witness the sloth bear’s unique foraging and climbing behaviours, did you know, they are the only bear species to carry their cubs on their backs? Throughout your journey, it’s important to remember that bear sightings are subject to natural circumstances and the animals’ behaviour.
